How To Become A Secret Dream Control Freak!
Most of us think of our dreams as a mysterious part of the way that our minds work a natural occurrence which we can control no more than we can the weather. These trips taken by our subconscious while our bodies are at rest are thought by most of us as something which is not truly understood, much less within our power to shape. However, anyone can learn dream control and start deciding what happens in their dreams. This is possible thanks to the technique of lucid dreaming.
Just what is lucid dreaming, exactly? Can anyone gain the ability of dream control? What is there to be gained by lucid dreaming? Read on for a look at dream control and how it can be helpful to you.
What Is Dream Control?
Dream control, which is the ability granted to us by the technique of lucid dreaming is having the knowledge that you are dreaming even while in the middle of a dream. While you are sound asleep, your mind can be aware of the fact that you are dreaming, letting you be in control of the events which transpire in your dreams.
People who suffer from nightmares frequently can find relief with dream control. Once they learn to use this powerful technique, they can banish their nightmares and get the restful sleep they need.
Common Techniques For Inducing Lucid Dreaming
A very successful way to reach lucid dreaming uses binaural audio, with this you listen to 2 different types of frequencies simultaneously, for the purpose of altering the brain waves, to bring on a relaxed stage, and also the rapid eye movement (REM) stage of sleep, which is where the lucid dreaming occurs.
Self-hypnosis and meditation were the methods used to induce lucid dreaming before binaural audio recordings became available on DVD and CD formats. Self hypnosis and meditation both work to achieve lucid dreaming, but they can take a while to master, making them not necessarily the best choice if youd like to start lucid dreaming sooner rather than later.
There are a number of other techniques which have been used by experts to help people achieve dream control. All of these techniques work towards the goal of training the mind to understand that they are dreaming so that they can enter a state of lucid dreaming.
This training will begin, of course while you are wide awake. You need to set a cue for yourself an action which you will perform or a certain thing which you will say that will be your reminder that you are dreaming so that you can begin using dream control.
You can tell yourself that you will do or say a certain thing in your dream to remind yourself and begin lucid dreaming as you start to fall asleep. Once you do or say this cue, you will come to the awareness that you are dreaming and begin to have a lucid dream.
This is considered as a mnemonic or mild process of bringing on lucid dreaming, and was founded by Dr. Stephen LaBerge (a scientist). Through this your mind becomes in total control of what is happening as you dream, this means you will be in no way harmed because it is only in your mind and of that you are in control of.
Keeping a dream diary is a good way to train yourself to use dream control. Keep a notebook and pen by your bedside so that when you awake from a dream you can write down anything and everything which you remember. After keeping your dream journal for a few week, you may find yourself having a dream which you have written down over again except this time, youll be in the directors chair for the experience!
With dream control you can go anywhere, do anything and see anyone that you can imagine. There are no limits to what you can do when you are lucid dreaming.
However, keep in mind that you can have too much of a good thing, even dream control. Experts in the field have said that our dreams can be a way of our subconscious minds trying to tell us something important. Its important to give yourself a few nights off from lucid dreaming now and then, as amazing of an experience as discovering dream control can be.
